GENERAL ELECTION COMMISSION OF MONGOLIA JOINS OGP CHALLENGE

The Open Government Challenge calls on all OGP members to strengthen their commitments across ten key areas of open government to uphold democratic values. Members are encouraged to pursue ambitious reforms and demonstrate tangible progress through their OGP action plans or other initiatives.

The General Election Commission of Mongolia (GEC) has joined this challenge under the “Anti-Corruption” theme, focusing on the launch of an “Online Platform for Publishing Political Finance Data”, making Mongolia the first Asian country to participate. By 2027, the GEC aims to develop a digital platform where political parties can submit their financial reports and statements. This platform will also provide public access to detailed information on the income and expenditures of political parties.

Through these initiatives, the GEC seeks to enhance transparency in party membership, assets, and financial activities, foster greater public trust in political parties, and reduce election-related costs.  Furthermore, the GEC believes that adopting a fully digital system will not only improve the accountability of political parties but also encourage citizens and voters to engage more actively and responsibly. Ultimately, this initiative supports an electoral culture grounded in the principles of democratic elections.
